What to expect at the audition:

Acting
You will be asked to read a short piece of dialogue from the script with another actor. Female ensemble – Lizzy & Loretta dialogue (attached below)
Male ensemble – Sgt Hill dialogue (attached below)
Dance / Movement
You will be taught a small section of dance / movement as one group on the night. We appreciate that not everyone considers themself a ‘dancer’ and we don’t expect this of everyone. However, this is a musical and some form of movement will be required.
Experienced Dancers
For those who consider themselves competent dancers, there will be an additional short but much more complex routine that will be taught on the night as one group.
Male Ensemble Dialogue
SGT HILL: My name is Sergeant Hill and I’m your commanding officer.
TITUS: We’ll soon get a rise out him Max!
SGT HILL: Silence constable, you’ll only speak when spoken to.
TITUS: Yes Sir!
SGT HILL: You’ve been issued with truncheons, and taken the oath under the emergency powers act that allows you to use them to maintain law and order. Use them! This is a hungry mob they need to understand the force of the law. Look around you…. there are expensive shops. If we lose control there’ll be looting so don’t give them an inch. We are to hold them in the square while they have their speeches and then escort them to outside the Houses of Parliament. Any questions?
Female Ensemble Dialogue
LIZZY: I can’t quite believe it, I can start a new life and I have my dashing admirer….
(Lizzy looks across to Titus)
LORETTA: Lizzy, take care when it comes to Titus.
LIZZY: I don’t understand.
LORETTA: Just believe me.
LIZZY: Do you know him?
LORETTA: Not exactly. Before becoming a singer I was a nightclub waitress, for wealthy customers I did extras.
LIZZY: I see.
LORETTA: Please don’t judge me…. I was desperately short of money, Titus was one of several men, all rich and heartless in their pursuit of pleasure. Tread carefully Lizzy.
LIZZY: Are you sure it was Titus?
LORETTA: I’m afraid so.
LIZZY: Absolutely sure?
LORETTA: Yes.
